Steps & Threads was founded by Amy Yang, a passionate ProAm Latin ballroom dancer with two decades of experience. In recent years, she has been actively competing in major international ballroom dance competitions around the world, showcasing her dedication to the art through the ProAm category and while proudly serving as an ambassador of her own brand.
The idea for Steps & Threads was born out of Amy’s personal experience and frustration as a competitive dancer. After just a few competitions, a dress has already been seen, photographed, and circulated on video—prompting the need for a new look at every major event. With a calendar full of international competitions each year, the cost of designer dresses quickly becomes unsustainable.
“Buying designer dresses for every competition can be incredibly expensive. If I need to spend a fortune on a second-hand designer dress, why not create a brand-new, custom-made one for much less?”
Driven by this insight, Amy set out to create a smarter solution: custom-made, high-quality ballroom dresses at a more accessible price point. And so, Steps & Threads was born—offering dancers beautifully crafted, competition-ready outfits that deliver elegance and individuality, without breaking the bank every time a new season begins.
